  • A huge thank you goes out to all families that attended Parent Night #3! We value these evenings and the opportunity to continue building the family-student-teacher partnership. • 6th Grade Parents – Beginning the last week of January, current 6th grade students will begin the process of registering for their 2016-17 classes.  Ms. Vande Kamp will be doing things a little differently this year, as she and her student counselor will be meeting with students one-on-one to explain and discuss course options.  She estimates these meetings will take place over the course of the next 3 weeks.  During these meetings, your 6th grader will learn about next year’s courses and fill out a registration form that they will be bringing home for you to review, sign, and return.  Students will be given direction as to where to return the forms.  Next year, 7th graders will be required to take the following courses:  math, language arts, science, social studies, physical education, health, art, gateway to engineering, family and consumer sciences, and speech/performance.  They will also select to take either German exploratory, or Spanish exploratory; however, we may not be able to fill all first choice requests.  In addition, students will have the option to select band/choir/study hall.
    • Please visit the 7th Grade Registration blog below for detailed course descriptions, as well as to view a copy of the registration form.  If you have any questions about course registration, feel free to email Ms. Vande Kamp (tvandekamp@waukeeschools.org).
  • Celebrate our school counselors! National School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), will be celebrated from Feb. 1–5, 2016, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of professional school counselors within U.S. school systems and how students are different as a result of what school counselors do. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.  This year’s theme is:  “School Counseling – The Recipe for Success.”  Thank you for taking a moment to reach out to your student’s school counselor (Trudy Vande Kamp – 6th grade, and Lindsay Temple -7th grade) to share your appreciation.
  • If you have made (or if appointments come up) during IA Assessments (Feb. 9-11), please make sure to let Debbie in our front office know, so we can plan accordingly. Thank you!

  • This seems like a long way off yet, but we will be taking the Iowa Assessments February 9-11. As you being making appointments (dental, medical, etc.), please keep these dates in mind as we’d like for as many of our students as possible to take the assessments as scheduled. Thank you!
