About Me

After graduating from the University of Maine with a degree in Electrical Engineering, I served in the US Air Force as an active duty engineering officer with assignments in Space and Weapons Systems in Los Angeles and Florida. After leaving the service as a Captain, I worked in systems & software engineering and program management in the aerospace industry, for Sikorsky Aircraft in Connecticut, Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, and Astronautics in Milwaukee. Along the way, I earned Masters’ degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

I have extensive teaching and mentoring experience in industry and have developed unique teaching and training programs for both military and industrial applications. I hold grades 7-12 teaching endorsements in Math, Physics, and Engineering and am a concurrent adjunct instructor at DMACC. This is my second year teaching at Waukee, and my first year at APEX.

My wife (Sue) and I have three grown and married sons, three grandchildren (with two more on the way), and a dog (Chloe).  We raised our family in Connecticut and Cedar Rapids, and now live in West Des Moines.
