About Me

My parents and I in Greece!

I grew up in a town of 1,000 in northwest Iowa called Lake Park.

I graduated high school in 2002 and went to Buena Vista University and got my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mathematics.

I taught for 2 years at Central Lyon before moving to West Des Moines in 2008.  I taught all levels of high school math at Waukee until 2014 when I decided to try teaching abroad.  I taught 6th-8th grade math at the American Community School of Athens before moving back to Waukee in the fall of 2015 to work at APEX.

I enjoy doing anything that keeps me active.  Basketball, volleyball, golf, softball, reading, listening and playing music, coaching, watching movies, traveling, water skiing, bowling, spending time outside with my dog and cheering on the Hawkeyes.

Friday nights in the fall you can find me on a football field somewhere in Iowa as a backjudge.  During the winter, you can find me coaching the Freshman Boys Basketball Team.  In the spring I will be up in the press-box for home track meets working with the automatic timing system.
