Get to Know You

Hello Future APEX Associates!

I’m excited to get to know each of you this semester! I can’t wait to see what projects and experiences will get to shape your professional experience in the coming months.

In an effort to get to know each of you better- not only as a student, but as a person- you’ve received a “get to know you” survey by email. Please fill this out before the first day of school so that we can use these for a first day activity.

Why did you take this course: I took this teaching opportunity because I wanted to inspire students, prepare students for future success, and help redefine learning.

Think of the best teacher you’ve ever had. What made them great? Mr. Fountain let us think for ourselves and problem solve. Mr. Fields obviously cared about our successes and failures.

What is your preferred learning style? Kinesthetic.

What is one thing I can do to help you grow? Let me struggle to work through problems. Give me autonomy.

What is one thing I should avoid to help you learn? Be inflexible. Avoid challenges. Despise change.

What are you most excited to learn about this course? I’m excited to explore emerging energies with students. I’m excited to see how automation impacts manufacturing. I’m excited to see some businesses get off the ground!

Do you have any prior skills or knowledge coming into this class? I’ve worked in engineering design for a couple of companies. I’ve also lead engineering teams in APEX for two years now.

What do you want to gain from this class? I want to gain professional skills, insight into the energy and advanced manufacturing industries, and positive, mutually-beneficial relationships with business partners and student-associates.
